Holiday Gifts That Make an Impact

As the holiday season approaches, we look for thoughtful gifts that show the people in our lives how much they mean to us. At STARability Foundation, we believe a gift can do even more. It can celebrate an artist’s creativity, build valuable job skills and help create opportunities for people with autism and other developmental disabilities to shine.

That spirit is at the heart of the STAR Studio, our social enterprise in the Naples Design District. More than 100 participants, whom we lovingly call STARs, take part in paid employment, internships, vocational training, volunteer opportunities and creative classes through the Studio. They illustrate, craft and package beautiful, professional gifts that reflect their talents and the community around them. Along the way, they gain hands-on experience, confidence and a sense of pride in their work.

This holiday season, their creativity shines through a collection made for sharing. Shoppers will find candles in Enchanted Evergreen, Sugared Pistachio and Sparkling Snowflake scents, along with festive ornaments and tea towels. Greeting cards and note cards offer another way to share their artwork with family and friends, while a 2027 wall calendar provides a gift that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Together, these gifts offer a variety of ways to celebrate the people on your list while supporting meaningful opportunities for the people who crafted them.

There is music to share, too. Voices of Joy: A STARability Holiday Album showcases the talents of our STARs through familiar seasonal songs, including “Jingle Bells,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Feliz Navidad.” Whether shared with a loved one or played at a holiday gathering, the album brings the joy of our participants’ music to the season.

The Studio’s work also celebrates the places we call home. Its expanded Beachcomber Collection now includes Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Sanibel and Isles of Capri, with products available through a growing network of local retailers. Partners include Sandpiper Clothiers on Marco Island, Brass Alligator Boutique in Bonita Springs, Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium and Sea Glass Lane on Sanibel, and Pelican Bend on Isles of Capri.

Other community collaborations are creating new ways for STARs to share their talents. The Naples Players carries theater-themed bracelets and the Naples candle, while Patty Baker Humane Society Naples will offer exclusive pet-themed note cards and a deodorizing candle. A new partnership with Naples Historical Society will also introduce a Palm Cottage-inspired candle this holiday season.

These collaborations demonstrate what is possible when local businesses and organizations partner with STAR Studio. From exclusive retail products and custom gifts for employees and clients to event favors and specialized merchandise, each partnership creates additional opportunities for STARs to develop workplace skills and see their talents valued throughout the community.
