Patty Baker Humane Society Naples will hold its 21st annual Run for the Paws 5K on Saturday, Jan. 30, at Paradise Coast Sports Complex, 3940 City Gate Blvd. North. The race starts at 8 a.m.
Runners and walkers of all experience levels are welcome, with or without a dog. The course is flat and scenic. New this year is a 1-mile Kids Fun Run, and the shelter has brought in Gulf Coast Runners to help coordinate the race and widen its reach across Southwest Florida.
“Run for the Paws is a fun way for our community to come together, get moving and make a difference for animals in need,” said Becca Morris, CEO of Patty Baker Humane Society Naples. “Whether you’re racing for a personal best, walking with friends or cheering from the sidelines, every participant is helping support the lifesaving work we do throughout the year.”
Registration is open now. Early bird pricing is $25 through 11:59 a.m. on Oct. 10. After that the 5K costs $30 through Jan. 8 and $40 from Jan. 9 onward, including race day. Entrants 18 and under pay $20 for the 5K, and the Kids Fun Run is $15.
A vendor village will run alongside the race, with room for up to 50 local businesses and organizations.
Money raised supports the shelter’s programs and services for animals in need. Founded in 1960, Patty Baker Humane Society Naples has found homes for more than 110,000 animals and each year serves thousands of displaced dogs, cats and small mammals, along with thousands more client animals through the Yawney Family Veterinary Clinic.
